General Information and
History
Refinishing has been around for over 20 years and yet most
people still have never heard of the process. Baths tubs,
sinks, ceramic tile, fiberglass shower stalls, and even laminate
kitchen counter tops can be restored to a like new condition.
If the right materials and procedures are used, the results are
simply incredible. Many people cannot tell the difference
between a refinished surface and a new one. The results are
that good! Over the last several years technology has
dramatically improved the materials used in refinishing. Not
only are they even more durable and glossy, but they are becoming
more environmentally friendly.
Why refinish? Refinishing costs less than 25 % of the
expense of replacement. In addition, custom colors are
available to complement any decorating scheme. Most people
choose to refinish because (1) they want to change the color, (2)
the surface has been damaged, or (3) the surface has become
dull and worn over time. Resurfacing is almost always cheaper
than replacing.
The Refinishing
Process
Surfaces made of porcelain, ceramic tile, fiberglass, and even
laminate counter tops can be beautifully refinished to look and
feel like "new" again. This process has existed for many
years and improvements in technology keep making it better and
better.
Craftsmen Bath Tub Refinishing takes great care
to insure that any surrounding areas are protected and that paint
type odors from the refinishing process are properly exhausted. We
use a two-step cleaning process to adequately prepare the surface
for refinishing. These are industrial strength cleaners designed to
remove soap film, body oils, and hard water deposits. We can also
strip off a previously finished fixture so as to apply a new
one. Next, any chips or scratches are filled and
repaired.
Technology seems to be changing everything these days and
coatings are no different. Typically either an acrylic or
urethane-based coating will be applied with the HVLP spray
rig. These coatings, available in custom colors, will dry to
the touch within minutes. Craftsmen Bath Tub Refinishing has access
to some of the most advanced, high-tech coatings available on the
market today. These coatings produced such a hard, glossy
surface that many people have a hard time distinguishing between a
new and refinished surface. Through different techniques and
procedures, a refinished fixture can be ready to use within 24
hours.
Warranty
Craftsmen Bath Tub Refinishing offers a full two-year warranty
against peeling or other failure of adhesion for bathtubs, wall
tile, and fiberglass. Sinks, counter tops, floors and all
other surfaces are warranted for a period of one year. Kitchen
sinks because of their nature are not covered by a warranty.
